Friday's Activities

Elizabeth is content playing with the simplest things.

I drank all the water!

This pagoda is eleven stories high and over 500 years old.  It is located at the Six Banyans Buddhist Temple.

China Doll loaned us a stroller during our visit.

These are some big statues!  The monks "blessed" our children with a "happy life".

It was an important day in the Chinese lunar calendar so the temple was very crowded.  We quickly attracted a large group of Chinese grandmas.  They oohed and ahed as grandmas do.  They were amazed at mama's blond curly hair.  Mostly they liked to squeeze Elizabeth's cheeks, arms and legs and talked wildly while giving us the thumbs-up.  We didn't need much translation, but we were told that they were saying that she was beautiful and they liked how chubby and healthy she is.  They also checked her scalp.  This inspection was followed by the assurance that she would grow up beautiful as well.  The whole experience was really quite sweet.

On the way to lunch, we passed many modern new buildings.  They were really quite breathtaking.

Shelly from Lotus arranged a delicious lunch at a very fancy restaurant that she said the local people usually visit on special occasions.

Oooh, chopsticks!
