Weird Receptacles

Aren't these the weirdest looking receptacles you've ever seen?  Not if you've ever been to China.  Everything is 240 volt/50Hz here.  In the U.S., we're used to 120 volt/60Hz power.  240 Volts is usually reserved for large appliances.
Most everything we brought with us was electronic and battery operated.  All the chargers for iPod, laptop, camcorder, cell phone, etc., will work on a wide range of power options.  They say right on them 100-250 volts 50/60 Hz.  Believe it or not, if you look closely at the receptacle on the right, the top two openings will accommodate a two-pronged cord end.
Most heating appliances from the U.S., like hair dryers and curling irons, are limited to 120 volts.  Plugging them into 240 volts will burn them up.  They do have one 120 volt outlet in the bathrooms here at the White Swan just for these items.
